Changing Your Windshield Wipers Is Simpler Than You Think in Brandon
One of the most overlooked parts of auto care has to be the windshield wipers. If your wipers aren’t up to snuff, they can be a safety hazard making it difficult to see the road when it rains or snows. Problematic wiper blades can even smear your windshield which has the potential of creating visibility issues.
Here’s how to replace your wipers if you suspect they aren’t up to snuff
- Measure the length – Either check your car owner’s manual or measure the wiper blade length yourself.
- Remove the used wiper -Depress the small tab on the underside of the wiper where it meets the wiper arm and lift the wiper arm away from the windshield. When the tab is depressed, pull downwards to slide the wiper blade off the arm.
- Attach the new blade – Pull the wiper blade onto the arm. While doing so, you will hear a click when it locks into place. After slowly lowering the arm onto the windshield, repeat the process with the other wiper arm.
- Test your new wiper blades – It is better to test the wiper blades now because you will be able to make the necessary adjustments. Do not finish and assume it is done properly without testing them.
You might take a little longer to replace your wiper blades the first time around. However, after doing it a couple more times, you will look like a seasoned professional. It’s better to learn how to do it yourself because you will save a lot of time as well as money in the long run. It will also give you the confidence to work on other car related repairs once you realize how easy it is to make the majority of simple auto repairs.
